tan prep + aftercare
Follow these steps for a flawless tan!
Wax and shave an unwanted body hair
Waxing and shaving should be done 24 hours prior to your tanning appointment. Using a razor that does not have a moisture strip.
Exfoliate your entire body
Exfoliate head-to-toe using an exfoliating mitt or washcloth with a non-moisturizing soap or body wash. Please avoid any body scrubs as these contain oils and ingredients that leave a residue on the skin.
Complete manicure and pedicure
Manicures and pedicures should be completed prior to your tanning appointment. Please avoid any oils or lotions that your nail technician applies on you.
Gel-based body wash only
Showering should be completed at least FOUR hours prior to your tanning appointment to allow your pH levels to neutralize. Any bar soaps or cream-based body washes should be avoided (dove specifically)- these leave a residue on the skin and create a barrier, leaving you with a streaky tan.
Completely any facial or skin treatment
Tanning should always be the last beauty treatment completed.
Do not apply any lotions, oils, deodorant, perfumes or makeup
Do not apply any deodorant, the aluminum in deodorant with turn your underarms green.
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing
It is best to wear loose clothing post spray tan in order for your spray tan to dry and settle properly. Please note that bronzer from your spray tan can transfer onto your clothing, but comes off in the wash.
No contact with water until your initial rinse
It is imperative to avoid any contact with water until you rinse your spray tan off.
Do not touch your body
Avoid touching your skin while your tan is on, this could result in orange palms. If this happens, use an exfoliating mitt to remove the tan on your palms.
Rinse in lukewarm water no soap
For your initial rinse, simply shower with lukewarm water and pat your skin dry. Most of the bronzer will wash away, this is normal.
Wait until your tan has fully developed to moisturize
All tans will take 24 hours to be fully developed. Wait until your colour has fully developed to moisturize. Avoid using any moisturizers that contain artificial fragrances or mineral oils, as these will strip your tan very quickly.
